The Relaxed, Safe Atmosphere attracts families, seniors, divers, fishing enthusiasts and those just looking to escape overcrowded tourist destinations and unwind!

Puerto Costa Maya / Costa Maya Port

Puerto Costa Maya cruise ship port can dock up to 5 ships. It’s considered one of the best in the South Caribbean circuit.

It’s located in a secure, enclosed area and contains multiple stores, restaurants and bars. Relax in the large pool areas and enjoy traditional Mayan performances in the main area! For a fee, you can also swim with dolphins and get up close to exotic birds. Most excursions leave from here as well. 

Las Casitas

Las Casitas is a growing  subdivision made up of traditional and modern houses and apartments. The entrance starts at Mahahual’s main road and stretches north to the entrance of the Costa Maya Port. There are several Grocery Stores, Specialty Shops and also Hotels, Restaurants and Bars/Clubs. If Real Estate is your thing, there are also numerous lots and houses for sale or rent.

55 Cincuenta Y Cinco

Neighborhood 55, or Cincuenta Y Cinco is a growing community combined with an industrial zone with several services like tire and auto repair, car wash and two large hardware and building supply centers.  There are also many places to eat, drink and stay. It’s the first sudivision you go through when entering Mahahual from the main highway.

It has received recent upgrades and the streets are now paved and easier to drive on.

Mahahual Central

Mahahual Central is the main strip along the beachfront, including the Malecón walkway.

There are many shops, vendors, restaurants, beach clubs, dive shops, boat tours,  hotels and private rentals both on the Malecón and the inner streets.

There are also community areas around the Domo where people meet for fun, recreation or to catch Collectivos (Taxi Vans) that connect to places like Bacalar, Chetumal, Limones, Felipe Carrillo Puerto and Tulum. 

Areas Outside Of Town

If you are looking for fuel, Propane Gas is at the Tomza station located on the way out of Mahahual on the main road.

Further down the same road there is Gasoline and Diesel at the Pemex Station.

To travel to Rio Indio, El Placer, Uvero, Tzucox and Herrero take the highway that goes north past the airport.

To go to Xcalack, take the highway south from the road just before the filter or take the beach road south from the end of the Malecón.

If you require Emergency Services of Police, Fire or Ambulance call 911.

This will take you to a centralized dispatch, there may or may not be an operator on duty that speaks english or languages other than Spanish. If possible have someone that speaks Spanish to call for you. 

You can also call 911 to report a non emergency as well. 

There are several ATM – Automated Teller / Cash Machines in Mahahual. 

Some of them give you Mexican Pesos and others US Dollars.
